A poem by Corey Mesler

Old Friend, Butcher, Despot

Old friend, butcher, despot,
Nausea: I take your threats
seriously. What more can
I give? So many mornings,
never returning, so many
outings extirpated. I applaud
you, flayer, revenant, tired
Scratch: I am your best dance.
