7/19 – Claudia Del Balso’s Summer Writing Contest and 9th Annual FundsforWriters Essay Contest
This week we’ve got a summer writing contest that will keep you cool with free entry, and a nice (but non-monetary) compensation, plus a contest whose deadline is far enough off in the hazy distance of autumn that you can enter multiple times for maximum possible success—with both free and paid entries available, and cash prizes for both!
Claudia Del Balso’s Summer Writing Contest
Writer and Book Publicity Marketing Assistant Claudia Del Balso is sponsoring a writing contest on her blog. The prize? A chance to work on your short piece with Canadian writer Michael Mirolla, Claudia’s mentor and the publisher and co-owner of Guernica Editions. As an active participant in the Montreal writing scene, Mirolla will engage with the winner for a one-on-one critique of their submitted work, so be sure to send your best!
While this prize does not offer monetary compensation, critiquing your work with a published author could prove to be just the thing you need to ultimately get your piece polished enough for a real, live editor to publish your work for money. Plus entry in the contest is completely free, so what have you got to lose?
Here’s what you need to know:
Deadline: July 31, 2010
Winners announced: August 18, 2010 on the blog
Special note: You must sign up to follow Claudia’s blog in order to be eligible to participate!
