Five Things, Fractured Fables

Local literary group Five Things presents their monthly performance this Friday, March 5 at the United States Arts Authority here in Austin. As described on their website:

It’s the kind of night that would make Aesop twirl his toga in disgust!

Join us as five readers (Evie Worsham, Giuseppe Taurino, Gretchen Phillips, Greg Koehler, Willy Razavi) spin fractured tales and funny fables. Featuring music by The Gary, Aly Tadros, and Emcee Eats. Hosted by Amelia Gray and Stacy Muszynski.

Doors open at 7, come early for an acoustic set by Five Things fave Aly Tadros. Find the USAA next door to Spiderhouse, with parking in any of Spiderhouse lots or on the street nearby. Admission: $1.

Hot damn! For only a buck, that’s a helluva lot of entertainment. As far as “WTF is Five Things?”, which you might be asking (and rightly so) right about now, the concept is that five brave/possibly insane artistic types create five-minute-long pieces of the genre of their choosing, based on a theme given to them by the aforementioned hosts.

So really, anything goes, so long as it has something, however tangentially, to do with fractured fables.

Man, I’ve got a few fables of my own I could spin… but I will let the professionals do their thing, and see if I can figure out how to get on the roster for next time. And maybe even weasel an interview out of these ladies, to boot.

So, whaddya say, Austinites, will I see ya there?

USAA is located at 510 W. 29th Street in Austin, Texas.
