Evolution of the Call Girl

About a year ago I was at a corporate party waiting in line for the bathroom when one particular female executive—who had obviously had too much to drink—blurted out, “God, I could use a call girl tonight!” Thinking she had made a slip of the tongue I said, “I think they are called ‘call boys’ for us girls.”
She explained, “Oh no, I have someone in mind.”
“You have a call girl—for women?” I asked.
I had become completely intrigued. It took a little effort, but after a little convincing I got her to agree to give me the girl’s number.
When I called the number the next day I had to agree both to not use her real name and not give her number or her card to anyone before she would agree to meet me. By the time she knocked on the hotel room door I was full of anticipation and even a little nervous, perhaps as a result of my third cappuccino. I wasn’t sure how to greet her but finally settled on a handshake.
Dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, and with short hair, she looked rather boyish–without the tomboyish body. If anything she had a tall and skinny, almost prepubescent look. However, she had a very feminine way about her that went perfectly with very attractive sleek looking face.
After a little small talk, I told her I wanted to do an interview because I felt she could speak to an aspect of women’s sexuality that hadn’t been addressed in the media to date. What follows is a transcript of that interview, with minor alterations made for readability.
Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: North London
Q: How old are you?
A: 27.
She barely looked twenty-something.
Q: Are you close to your family?
A: Yes, though they live in the England countryside and I don’t see my folks or older brother as much as I like.
Q: Okay, so I know labels can be annoying, but how you describe yourself in terms of your sexual work?
A: Well, I suppose I am a call girl, but I don’t like that term.
Q: How do you think of yourself?
A: Honestly, I feel like I am a massage therapist with benefits, for women.
Q: You only see female clients?
A: Yes.
Q: Are you a lesbian?
A: No. I mean, I like women, though I also date men. I am dating a man right now, but in terms of clients I only see women.
Q: Have you dated women in the past?
A: Well I have certainly slept with, had affairs with women, but I have never had a long-term relationship with a woman before… though I haven’t ruled it out.
Q: Why only women?
A: Well, obviously it is safer for me, but really I enjoy seeing women more than I would seeing men.
Q: What do you most enjoy about your work with women?
A: Well, I really feel like I am providing a service to women that they couldn’t get anywhere else. Like I think they feel very safe with me, and they can just relax and let me take care of their pleasure. Plus, of course, as a woman I obviously know just how to touch and play with their female parts.
Q: How did you get started in the business?
A: I had a very attractive female boss during an internship I did at a marketing firm. It was during my second year at university, I was maybe 21. At the end of the summer we went out for drinks. She had been looking into trying to keep me on but the head office wouldn’t authorize the expenditure, so she brought me to dinner to tell me the bad news. By the end of the night we were both pretty drunk and she made the comment, “I am so horny! If I were man, I would probably be calling for a hooker right now.” Without even thinking I blurted out, “I give great head.” We then did some drunken negotiating and agreed upon 300 pounds. I wasn’t sure if she was serious until we actually got to her house and she took her clothes off in front of me and then walked towards her bedroom saying “I’m ready when you are.”
Q: So did you have sex, or…?
A: No, we didn’t really have sex in the usual sense. Basically I just played with her breasts a little and then gave her head for like an hour or so. And then we both fell asleep.
Q: When did you get paid?
A: Oh, not til the next morning.
Q: So that was a one time thing?
A: Well, I thought it was, and then a few days later she called me again asking if we could repeat our arrangement. I ended up seeing her once a week for nearly a year.
Q: And then what happened?
A: She got transferred to the Far East. And I had gotten so used to the income that I wanted to keep having it. So I made up some business cards that said “Massage and Relaxation Therapist, Pleasure and Satisfaction Guaranteed. For Women Only.” I then went to a bunch of elite bars where I thought I might run into a few rich women. I also went to a couple of exclusive all-women gyms. I would flirt a little and then before I left I l would leave a card somewhere they would find it. I probably gave out 50 cards and got maybe 7 calls.
Q: So when they called what would happen next?
A: Well, usually we would agree to meet at a hotel.
Q: Did they ever ask for an explanation of your services over the phone?
A: Sometimes, sure they would. I would usually just say “All I can promise over the phone is a very sensual massage experience.” That was usually enough.
Q: So tell me about a typical experience.
A: When they first come into the hotel room, I mean after greeting them, I would give them two towels and let them use the bathroom to get undressed.
Q: What would you usually wear?
A: Usually I had on like a yoga outfit. Well, yoga shorts and a sports bra. Something like that.
Q: Okay, so they come into the room, and I assume you ask them to lie down?
A: Yeah. They usually start on their stomach. I give them a back massage, very gentle. After maybe 20 minutes I say I am going to change the music or light a candle or whatever, and then I say if you feel ready you can roll over for enhanced pleasure.
Q: So they roll over, and then?
A: Usually I massage their breasts for a few minutes, then if I feel they are ready I start to kiss their breasts and slowly work my way down.
Q: How long does the average oral session last?
A: About 30 minutes.
Q: How successful at giving orgasms are you?
A: I think about 60-70% of the time, sometimes it is hard to tell.
Q: Do you ever use toys, dildos or vibrators to enhance the pleasure?
A: I actually never do on the first encounter, for regulars I will add it into the mix.
Q: What about kissing?
A: No, I try to avoid that. Well, with my regulars we sometimes kiss when they first come into the room, but never on the bed.
Q: Have any of the women tried to initiate a sexual encounter with you?
A: Sure, it has happened, but surprisingly not very often. I really think they understand I am in the pleasure business not the sex business.
Q: What about you? Have you been turned on by any of the women?
A: Of course, but I really feel a duty to not act on my feelings.
Q: So you would never date a client?
A: Well, I haven’t, but I will never say never.
Q: So can I ask how many women you have seen?
A: In total, close to 100, but maybe 80 of those I have only seen a couple of times. I do have a handful of weeklies and another handful of monthlies.
Q: So tell me about your… I am not sure what to call it. Let’s say your roster of clients.
A: Definitely upper-class, educated, almost all over 40. I think maybe 70% of the women are married or in long-term relationships.
Q: You say they are married? Does that mean they are married to men? Are they straight?
A: Yes, men. I would say 60% of the women have no interest in dating/sleeping with women. And perhaps 10% are only interested in women. So what’s left, 30%? Yeah, 30% are bisexual to some extent.
Q: Why do you think most of the women you see are leaning towards straight?
A: That’s actually a good question. I have thought a lot about it. I think it has to do with the controlled experience I offer. I think real lesbians would be more interested in a more mutual experience. Perhaps the cost limits the amount of women who can afford what I offer. And maybe it is just the way it happened. I don’t advertise anymore; it is all word of mouth, friends telling friends.
Q: Why do you think women in relationships come to see you?
A: Frankly, to see what they think they may be missing. I offer them a chance to have a sexual experience where they are the primary focus.
Q: I have to say, you seem very proud of the work you do.
A: Oh, I am very proud! I mean, I give women the chance to experience pleasure. For many of them it is the first time they have received really good oral sex, not to mention orgasm. I like to think I am helping them achieve their pleasure potential. And I really hope they bring what they have learned with me, from me, and integrate the new knowledge into their relationships. I sometimes joke I am a Feminist Sex Educator.
Q: Interesting. So how much does a session cost?
A: I charge 500 pounds [approximately $988 (CAN)] for a three-hour session, hotel included.
Q: Wow! So you are making a couple thousand pounds a week?
A: Yeah, the hotel rooms are like 200 pounds, but yeah, I usually take home close to 2,000 pounds [$3,952 (CAN)] a week when I am busy. I think I am lucky I get paid well for something I really like to do.
